What Are the Functions of the Revenue Department?
The Revenue Department plays a vital role in managing land administration and maintaining accurate land records across the state. Its primary responsibilities include regulating land ownership records, collecting land revenue, ensuring timely tax payments, and implementing laws related to land administration. These functions help maintain transparency and support the efficient management of public resources.
The department also supervises property documentation, mutation of land records, revenue collection, and the implementation of various land revenue laws. These responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution of India, state land revenue codes, and other applicable legal frameworks.
In addition to land administration, the Revenue Department has an important role in disaster management, coordinating relief operations, rehabilitation efforts, and emergency response during natural calamities. By maintaining accurate records and enforcing land-related regulations, the department helps protect property rights, improve governance, and ensure the smooth functioning of public administration.
