How to Start Import Export Business in India
The import and export business in India has experienced rapid growth due to globalization, eCommerce, and increasing international trade opportunities. Today, entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses can reach customers worldwide by importing and exporting products across different markets.
To start an import export business in India, entrepreneurs should first register their business, obtain a Permanent Account Number (PAN), open a current bank account, and apply for an Import Export Code (IEC) issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Understanding customs regulations, shipping procedures, product classifications, taxation, and export documentation is also essential for smooth business operations.
Market research, selecting profitable products, identifying reliable suppliers or buyers, and complying with international trade regulations are key factors for long-term success. With proper planning and documentation, an import export business can become a profitable venture that opens doors to global markets and sustainable business growth.
