How to Start Import Export Business in India
The import and export industry in India has grown significantly with the expansion of global trade and eCommerce. Today, entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses can reach international markets by trading products and services across countries. With supportive government initiatives and increasing global demand, starting an import export business has become an attractive opportunity.
To begin an import export business in India, you should first register your business, obtain a PAN, open a business bank account, and apply for an Import Export Code (IEC) through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Understanding customs regulations, shipping procedures, product classifications, taxation, and export documentation is equally important for smooth business operations.
Success in international trade depends on selecting the right products, identifying reliable suppliers and buyers, conducting market research, and complying with legal requirements. With proper planning, documentation, and a clear business strategy, an import export business can generate sustainable growth and long-term profitability.
